With Fossil Reef, I wanted to bring the look of an ancient reef into the frame and back plate of this Australian boulder opal pendant.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe opal holds flashes of green, blue and violet against reddish-brown ironstone. Around it, the silver has an old, weathered look, with ammonites and other fossil-inspired sea-life forms painstakingly carved and engraved into the frame and back plate.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe pendant began with grains of silver. The metal was forged and hand-milled, then the individual components were sawed, fitted, filed, and shaped by hand.
